Delicious, Bangsar Village II

I was at Delicious, Bangsar Vilage II last week for a pre-planned lunch. This is one of the 5 outlets that they have scattered in PJ. Apparently people say that the one at Bangsar Village II is also the best among the 5.

If your looking for fusion food with a mix of western and eastern touch, then this is a place to go. I would strongly suggest that you leave a little bit of space for dessert later on. You will not regret it.

Instead of saying how good this place is, I shall let the pictures do the work.

Cream Of Mushroom Soup

Gado Gado (Traditional Indonesian Salad with Peanut Sauce)

Thai Beef Salad ( Medium Rare Pan=Seared Steak with Mango Salad - a must have)

Seafood Pesto Lime Mayo (with Arugula on Ciabalt)

Seafood Spaghetti

Pan-Seared Crispy Skin Salmon (served with Coriander Relish, Asparagus & Fried Potatoes)

Chargrilled Grain-fed Sirloin Steak

Medium Rare... ROOAAARRR!!!~~

Marsala Lambshank (with Nasi Pilaf, Cucumber Raita & Papadum)

Berrilicious Chocolate Pavlova

Carrot Cake

Lemon Meringue Pie

Classic Chocolate Cake (with Vanilla Ice Cream)

The food was was really good, the desert superb. If your around Bangsar, do not give this place a miss. Even if your not hungry, go for the desserts.

You will come out a happy boi / garl.

Indulgence Restaurant Ipoh

If your around Ipoh and fancy some fine dining, perhaps the only established name I could think of would be Indulgence. Indulgence is an award winning restaurant an was awarded the "Western Cuisine Restaurant of the Year" 2007/2008.

The lady behind the scene is also renowned in her own rights. Julie Song was awarded "Best Western Cuisine Chef" in the Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards in 2005.

Besides being a fine dining restaurant, this place is also a boutique hotel which offers 2 theme sweets (English Country & Moroccan) and 4 themed deluxe rooms (Contemporary, Chinoiserie, Thai and Italian).

The restaurant also has a wide variety of wine as fine dining is never complete without the accompaniment of wines.

Specials of the day!

Anyways, I was at Indulgence last weekend to taste first hand, what this shout of the town was all about. To be honest, I've had mixed reviews from people I know that have frequented this place. Some call it over-rated while some thoroughly enjoyed their eating experience here in Indulgence.

Picture paints a thousand words, so I shall let you feast your eyes on the food we had that day.

Fresh Angast Oyster

Black muscles in yellow and red pepper strips

Holland Mushrooms, Avocado, Hokkaido Scallops & Fritti

Salmon Basque

Pumpkin Risotto with Soft Shell Crabs & Cherry Tomatoes

Seafood Spegetti

Sirloin Steak

T-Bone Steak

Lamb Neck-Red Braised with Tomatoes

Crem Brulee

All in all, I would say that Indulgence is expensive if your a Ipoh guy since they charge KL rate. However, if you do appreciate fine dining, then the rate are pretty fair.

The food that was served to me was pretty decent and you should not leave this place without having some of their deserts. Indulgence is definitely a place to go if you have a sweet tooth and enjoys deserts.

If I would to give an out of 10 mark for this place, I would say it would definitely be a high 7.

Restoran Hai Tien Ti, Kampung Cina, Sitiawan

After my trip to Teluk Intan, we went to Kampung Cina, Sitiawan for lunch. We were looking for seafood and my friend from Sitiawan brought us to Restoran Hai Tien Ti. This restaurant is located opposite a big Anglican church (can't remember the name but I was told its the biggest Anglican church in Sitiawan).

In short, lunch was great and bountiful.

The front entrance of the Restaurant. Most of the Restaurants around here look the same

The first dish is always the hardest to snap since everyone starts "attacking" the dish the moment it lands on the table.

Buttered Cray Fish

Apparently a must have in Sitiawan, Sweet and Sour Soup (nothing to shout about to be honest)

"Or Chean" or Oyster Omelette

This dish is a first time for me. My first impression - Garden Snails!

Deep friend buttered prawns

Yet another clam dish

"Kum Hiong" Crab or Spicy Crab

I was trying to find the location of the restaurant on my GPS and this was what I get. So can't really give proper direction for this place. However, its directly opposite a big church in Kampung Cina, Sitiawan (I don't think there is many big churches in Sitiawan).

If your really interested in going, just ask for the location of the church and you should be able to get there.

Restoran Tripple Round, Bukit Beruntung

If your in the town of Bukit Beruntung then do give this restaurant a try. For those that may not be familiar with this town its the highway exit just after Rawang (if your coming from KL).

If your coming from the highway, take a right turn just after Bukit Beruntung toll and head towards Sentosa. Look for a turning to the right that passes a bridge. Take the first turning to the left and take the immediate left turn. You should then see Triple Round at the other end of the shoplots.

You can be assured of a resonably priced chinese style dinner here.

XO sauce short beans

Homemade fried tofu

Curry Prawns

Steamed Herbal Chicken

Claypot Fish Curry

If your around Bukit Beruntung do give this place a try.

Tanner's Wine Bar & Bistro

Had an early dinner at Tanner's which is located at Kenny Hills (Bukit Tungku) last Sunday. The Chairman of Tatler (Malaysia) recommended this place to a friend of mine and gave a pretty high rating for it.

The place is situated away from the hustle and bustle of the city, surrounded by an old English countryside setting. If not for the introduction to this place, one would not be able to find this pretty secluded eatery easily.

Outside, the bistro is decorated with beer barrel tabletop

Entering the bistro, one can feel the warmth and cosiness of the place.

Tanner's predominantly serves English food and an extensive selection of wine and bottled beer sourced from various countries.

They serve set meals on most days. The one we ordered came with mushroom soup, chicken salad, Yorkshires pudding/roast lamb and sticky chocolate as desert.

Starter - mushroom soup

Chicken Salad

Yorkshire Pudding, this was a bit of a disappointment as I was expecting the batter to be in the form of a bowl. That was how i had them during my days living in Yorkshire and in some ways I was hoping to see the same presentation.

For those that is not familiar with Yorkshire pudding, its a dish made from batter. Its mostly served with roast beef (the one I ordered), chicken or on its own.

Roast Lamb (this was actually much better then the beef)

Sticky Chocolate (chocolate pudding with a scoop of chocolate ice cream)

All in all, Tanners is a nice cozy place for some decent English cuisine but i think its too highly rated. The food is good but not fantastic as what it was proclaimed to be. Nevertheless its a nice secluded place for a quiet romantic dinner or a private party (its a small place that can only fit roughly 50-100 people). Its also pretty reasonable with set meals costing about RM50 excluding tax.

If you are really into English cuisine then you may one to give this place a try. If not I guess there may be other better place around.
