Malaysia New Speedtrap

PDRM seems to have a new "weapon" in their fight to keep drivers in check.

Its cheap and pretty effective if you tell me.

At first glance it may look cheesy but mind you, if your driving 140 km/h this picture of a police holding a speed detector looks real enough for you to slow down.

Have you seen one of these in your area as well?

The Family Heirloom

Let me introduce you to the car that I've grown up with.

Its a first generation 1975 Opel Gemini Coupe. From the limited information that I gathered from the Internet, this car is the first coupe car introduced in Malaysia (by Opel). The car was proclaimed "Car of the Year" by Wheels magazine in 1975. Apparently the first generation Honda Civic evolved from this model when it was launched in 1997.

The car is still with us albeit hardly being used.

I've had a couple of steamy encounters with some female acquaintance in the car. And before you jump into any silly conclusions, its all due to the air-conditioning not working on a hot rainy day. So when its cold outside and hot in the inside, the windows all get fogged up.

I am glad we still keep the car. It reminds me a lot of my childhood.

Now I am even more glad we kept the car...... I can now claim RM625 rebate and use it on my Vios for petrol money =))

A Car That I Won't Want To Call My Own

Went to have my Malaysia-Thailand border pass done today.

Whats a border pass you might ask?

Its a travel document that one can apply to enter Thailand for multiple journeys and is valid for 6 month. However you must be a Malaysian resident that residing in the state of Perak, Perlis, Kelantan or Kedah for more then 3 years.

While I was driving back, I spotted this.......

I was like... huh? Whats those stuff stuck on to the back of the Pajero??

So I tried to overtake the car for a closer look......

The back of this car is virtually infested with mini-figurines!!!

You see Mickey Mouse at the top? WTFreak??!! Whats the owner thinking of here. Imagine you taking your girlfriend on a date with this car. I would rather walk!!

This is where the number plate is suppose to be but instead we got figurines ranging from hello kitty to ultraman stuck on it.

God save me if I got a car like that......

My Day At The Toyota Service Centre

I booked my car in for servicing last week at the Toyota Service Centre in Ipoh. The appointment was for 8.30 and I arrived there on the dot. The service centre here is notorious for its long queues and waiting time so I would always book at the earliest possible time since I normally wait for the car to be done up.

Toyota always emphasizes on genuine parts as showed here

That's my Vios 1.5G being tuned.

This time around it took way longer then normal to get my car done up. But I was not alone. While waiting, I took some rather sleepy pictures.

Disclaimer : If your at the office now and feeling extremely tired, this may not be the right time to see the pictures.

This is what normally happens in a very busy Toyota service centre. Zzz

While waiting for our cars to be ready, we were suddenly disturbed by a high level SNORE. Then we all saw this.........

*Snore...zzzzzz*

I tell ya. He was snoring so loud that some could not help but giggle loudly (me one of them!). Being a bit cheeky, I then moved in closer pretending to take a look at the poster on the wall with my hp cam on hand.

Chick! Chak!

Sleeping Beauty?

Thats what I do nowadays when I get bored. Taking pictures of interesting happenings around me.... haha.

P.S : I am posting this blog with a hint of guilt. I really hope the 2 people featured here don't stumble on my blog.....lol

2008 Perodua Kembara SUV

The much awaited 2008 Perodua Kembara SUV which is slotted to be launched in May 2008 was spotted on the Federal Highway recently.

The new Perodua will be powered by a 1.5 litre DOCH 16 valve DVVT engine and comes with 4WD. Unconfirmed sources indicate that the engine will be able to produce 105hp at 6000rpm and 140Nm of torque at 4400rpm. The fuel consumption of this baby would be around 16 sen per km.

The new Kembara will be fully imported from Japan. The price tag is expected to be higher than Toyota Rush. This would mean we will get a better equipped Kembara compare with Rush with price tag above 85k (OUCH!!).

The pictures here more or less confirms that the car would be based on Toyota Rush/Daihatsu Terios. Observe the 5 spoke wheel design of the above picture and compare it to the Daihatsu Terios below. Its virtually the same.

Definitely something to look forward to come May 2008

P.S The trailer pictures are taken off paultan.org
